Light has been healing living things since the beginning of time. We've just gotten a lot more precise about it.
why you might bere here
You might be here because you're dealing with something that feels physical and psychological at the same time: chronic pain, persistent fatigue, inflammation that won't resolve, brain fog that clouds your thinking, or a nervous system that feels depleted rather than simply stressed. You might be here because you've heard about red light therapy and want to understand what the science actually says and what it can genuinely offer. Or you might be here as someone who is already engaged in neurofeedback or therapy and wants to add a layer of cellular and neurological support that deepens and accelerates the work you're already doing.
You might also simply be someone who takes their health seriously and is curious about what becomes available when you support the body at the level of the mitochondria, the cellular machinery that powers virtually everything the body does. Photobiomodulation is not a wellness trend. It is a rigorously researched area of light-based medicine with over 5,000 clinical studies supporting its application across a wide range of physical and neurological concerns. At Providence's Brain Bar, we offer both body-level PBM and transcranial PBM directed specifically at the brain, giving us the full spectrum of what this technology has to offer.
how therapy helps
Photobiomodulation works by delivering specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light directly into cells and tissue. When absorbed by the mitochondria, these wavelengths activate cytochrome c oxidase, a key enzyme in the cellular energy production chain, increasing the production of ATP, the energy molecule that powers all cellular activity including critical brain functions. This process also triggers anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective responses, promotes neurogenesis and synaptogenesis, enhances cerebral blood flow, and supports the kind of cellular repair and regeneration that underlies meaningful recovery and optimization. The result is healing that happens not at the level of symptom management but at the level of the biology generating the symptoms.
At Providence, we offer two complementary streams of photobiomodulation. Body-level PBM is delivered using the Rouge Pro G3 red light therapy panel by Rouge Canada, targeting cellular regeneration, circulation, inflammation reduction, pain relief, and the physical dimensions of mental health including anxiety, trauma symptoms, and depression. Transcranial Photobiomodulation is delivered using the Neuradiant 1070 PLUS system from Neuronic Technologies, which channels near-infrared light at 1070 nanometers directly to brain cells to supercharge cerebral blood flow, support the development of new neural connections, and optimize brain function. The Neuradiant 1070 PLUS uses advanced four-quadrant programming to create customized pulse rate protocols based on each client's unique symptoms or QEEG data, and has demonstrated effectiveness across conditions including ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, brain injury, long COVID, immune concerns, and neurodivergent presentations. Both technologies can be used independently or combined for a comprehensive approach, and both integrate powerfully with neurofeedback and other Brain Bar services for enhanced therapeutic outcomes.

For Your Clarity
Your first appointment is a 50-minute initial assessment at $200, during which your provider will review your health history, discuss your goals, and determine the appropriate treatment approach and duration for your specific situation. Follow-up treatment sessions are priced by duration: 10-minute sessions are $20, 20-minute sessions are $40, and 30-minute sessions are $60. The treatment duration recommended for you will depend on the areas being targeted and your clinical picture, and your provider will discuss what is most appropriate at your assessment. This makes PBM one of the most accessible and cost-effective services at the Brain Bar, particularly when added as a complement to existing neurofeedback or therapy appointments.
Body-level photobiomodulation uses the Rouge Pro G3 panel to deliver red and near-infrared light to the skin and body tissue, targeting cellular regeneration, circulation, inflammation, pain, and the physical dimensions of mental health. Transcranial photobiomodulation uses the Neuradiant 1070 PLUS system to direct near-infrared light specifically at brain cells, supporting cerebral blood flow, neural connection development, and cognitive and neurological function. The two approaches work at different levels and can be used independently or combined depending on your goals. Your provider will help you understand which approach or combination is most relevant to your situation.
Red light therapy is one form of photobiomodulation, but the terms are not entirely interchangeable. Red light therapy typically refers to the use of visible red light wavelengths in the 600 to 700 nanometer range. Photobiomodulation encompasses a broader range of wavelengths including near-infrared light, which penetrates tissue more deeply and has distinct cellular effects. The Neuradiant 1070 PLUS used for transcranial treatment operates at 1070 nanometers, a near-infrared wavelength specifically chosen for its ability to penetrate the skull and reach brain cells. The devices we use at Providence deliver both red and near-infrared wavelengths in precise combinations calibrated for specific therapeutic goals.
Yes, and we actively encourage this combination where it is clinically appropriate. Transcranial PBM in particular has been shown to improve neurofeedback outcomes by enhancing the brain's plasticity and receptivity to training. Body-level PBM can support the nervous system settling and somatic recovery that deepens the effects of therapeutic work. Because treatment sessions can be as brief as 10 to 20 minutes, adding PBM to an existing appointment is often very straightforward. Speak with your Brain Bar provider about the best way to integrate it into your current plan.
Photobiomodulation is considered safe and non-invasive with no known significant side effects when used appropriately. It does not involve UV light and does not damage skin or tissue. The primary contraindications include active cancer in the treatment area, photosensitizing medications, and pregnancy, particularly for transcranial application. Individuals with epilepsy should discuss transcranial PBM with their physician before proceeding. We conduct a thorough clinical intake at your initial assessment to ensure PBM is appropriate for your situation, and we always recommend consulting with your physician before beginning any new neurotherapeutic treatment.
The number and frequency of sessions recommended varies depending on your goals and presenting concerns. For ongoing conditions or neurological support goals, a regular series of sessions over weeks to months tends to produce the most meaningful cumulative results, as the cellular and neurological effects of PBM build progressively with repeated treatment. For general wellness and optimization goals, less frequent maintenance sessions can be sufficient. Your provider will discuss a realistic and individualized treatment plan at your initial assessment.
