Some of the most powerful healing happens when you realize you're not the only one.
why you might be here
There's something that shifts when you sit in a room with others who understand, not because they've read about what you're going through, but because they've lived something close to it. Group therapy offers a kind of witnessing and belonging that is genuinely distinct from one-on-one work. You may be drawn to it because you're tired of feeling isolated in your experience, because you want to practice new ways of relating in real time, or because something in you knows that healing in community is part of what you need.
You might also be here because you've heard Providence is running a group that speaks directly to your situation, whether that's a specific life stage, a shared experience, or a particular area of growth. Our groups are intentionally designed with a clear focus and a specific population in mind, so that the people in the room are genuinely in it together.
how therapy helps
At Providence, we offer group therapy on a time-limited, topic-specific basis. Rather than running ongoing open-enrollment groups, we design and launch groups with intention, ensuring that each one has a clear therapeutic focus, a thoughtfully selected facilitator, and a group of participants who are well-matched to the experience. Our groups have covered a range of topics and populations, including trauma recovery, relational patterns, men's groups, parenting support, TRE somatic group shakes and more, and we continue to develop new offerings based on the needs of our community.
Group therapy at Providence is grounded in the same trauma-informed, relationally focused values that shape all of our clinical work. Our facilitators are experienced therapists who know how to hold a group with warmth, structure, and attunement, creating the conditions for both safety and genuine challenge. Because our groups are not continuous or rotating, each one is a contained and purposeful experience. Participants know what they're signing up for, and that clarity makes the work possible.

Providence runs groups on a rotating basis depending on current clinical need and therapist availability. Topics and populations vary, and have included areas such as trauma recovery, relational patterns, anxiety, life transitions, and specific demographic groups. We do not currently offer ongoing open-enrollment groups. Each group we run is time-limited and topic-specific, which means when a group is available, it has been thoughtfully designed for a particular purpose and a particular community.
Active and upcoming groups are listed directly on our Jane online booking platform and advertised on this page. If nothing is currently scheduled, we encourage you to check back, as new groups are added as they are developed. You're also welcome to reach out to us directly to let us know what kind of group you'd be interested in. Knowing what our community is looking for helps us shape what we build.
Individual therapy focuses on your inner world and history in a private, one-on-one relationship with a therapist. Group therapy introduces the relational field itself as part of the work. The dynamics that show up in a group, including how you connect, withdraw, assert yourself, or respond to others, offer real-time material for growth that simply isn't available in individual sessions. Many people find the two work powerfully together.
Not necessarily, though some groups may recommend or require concurrent individual support depending on the topic and clinical considerations. Each group listing will include information about prerequisites or recommendations so you can make an informed decision before registering.
Confidentiality in group therapy works a little differently than in individual sessions. Your therapist is bound by the same professional and ethical standards, but the group also includes other participants who are not bound by those same formal obligations. At the outset of every group, participants are asked to commit to holding what is shared in the room with care and discretion. While we take this seriously and set clear expectations, it is important to understand that absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in the same way it can in individual therapy.
When a group is active or upcoming, it will be listed on our Jane online booking platform where you can view details and register directly. Some groups may require a brief intake conversation before registration is confirmed, to ensure it's a good fit for where you are. If you have questions about a specific group or want to be notified when new ones are added, you're welcome to reach out to us directly.
