why you might be here
Taking a significant step in a relationship, whether that is moving in together, deepening a long-term commitment, getting engaged, or deciding to build a shared life in whatever form that takes, tends to bring a flood of energy directed almost entirely toward the practical and the logistical. What receives far less attention, and what matters far more for the long-term health of the relationship, is the inner landscape of what you are each bringing to that step. The assumptions each person is carrying. The values that have never quite been put into words. The ways your families of origin shaped your expectations about money, conflict, intimacy, roles, and what love is supposed to look like in practice. Most couples don't discover how different those assumptions are until they're living inside the commitment and bumping up against them daily.
Relational preparation is not a sign that something is wrong. It is one of the most proactive and genuinely loving things a couple can do for their future together, regardless of what form that future takes. Research consistently shows that couples who invest in structured relational preparation report higher levels of relationship satisfaction, better communication, and greater resilience when difficulty arises. The Prepare & Enrich Assessment is one of the most widely used and research-supported tools available for this purpose, offering couples a detailed and honest picture of where they are genuinely aligned and where meaningful conversation is still needed before taking the next step together.

the outcome
Relational preparation done well does not iron out all differences or guarantee a smooth road ahead. What it does is give you and your partner the tools, the shared language, and the honest self-knowledge to navigate what is coming with far greater confidence and skill. Couples who do this work tend to move into the next chapter of their relationship with a clearer sense of each other and a stronger foundation for working through the inevitable challenges of building a shared life, whatever shape that shared life takes.
The Prepare & Enrich Assessment specifically surfaces the areas of your relationship where your strengths already lie and the areas where growth, conversation, or negotiation is still needed. Walking through those results with a trained facilitator turns data into genuine insight, and genuine insight into real preparation.

for your clarity
Not at all. This service is designed for any couple who is preparing to take a meaningful step forward together, whether that is moving in together, making a long-term commitment, getting engaged, or simply deciding that they want a clearer and more honest picture of their relational landscape before deepening what they have. The Prepare & Enrich Assessment has versions suited to couples at different stages and with different relationship structures, and we welcome couples of all kinds.
The assessment covers a comprehensive range of relational dimensions including communication styles, conflict resolution patterns, financial values and management, sexual expectations and intimacy, leisure and lifestyle compatibility, parenting values and expectations, spiritual and faith dimensions, family of origin influences, and relational flexibility. Each partner completes the assessment independently online, and the results generate a personalized couple profile that forms the basis of your facilitated sessions. The depth and breadth of what it covers is part of what makes it so genuinely useful at any stage of a relationship.
That is precisely what the assessment is designed to do, and it is not a cause for alarm. Identifying areas of meaningful difference before they become entrenched conflicts is one of the most valuable things relational preparation can offer. The facilitated sessions are specifically designed to help couples work through what surfaces constructively, not to highlight problems without a path forward. Most couples find that the areas of difference, when addressed openly and with support, become sources of deeper understanding rather than ongoing friction.
Yes, often more than couples expect. Many long-term couples are surprised by what the assessment surfaces, particularly around topics that have never been explicitly discussed even within an established relationship. The length or depth of your time together does not make this process redundant. If anything, it tends to add a layer of intentionality to a commitment that has been growing organically, giving you the opportunity to make the next step a conscious and deliberate one rather than simply the next thing that happens.
Not at all. While Prepare & Enrich is used widely in faith communities, it is equally well suited to secular couples and is not inherently religious in its framing. Providence offers this service to couples of all backgrounds, beliefs, and relationship structures. The facilitator follows your lead on how faith and spirituality are or aren't relevant to your relationship.
Each partner completes the online assessment independently before your facilitated sessions begin. The facilitated portion typically involves four to eight sessions depending on the depth of what surfaces and how much you want to explore. Some couples move through the material relatively efficiently, while others use it as a launching point for deeper relational work. We'll discuss realistic expectations at the outset and remain responsive to what the process asks of you.
